Henry William Brown, a Canadian by birthright, evolved to become a significant and notable American photographer. The legacy that develops through Henry Brown’s photography shows that he was interested in capturing the landscape of the American West as he found it, and recognized that due to rapid development was in the mist of change. That interest manifested to such heights that he was driven into the vast wildernesses of the far west and the climes of the far  Northern Territories, including the Yukon. Eventually, in the mid 1870’s, Henry Brown returned to Montana Territory,  inspired by his new found talents as an artist and photographer. It was during this time period Henry Brown began recording the folks and landscape of a rapidly developing Territory, on the very eve of its transformation into Statehood. Read more. . .
